Our vision is to provide a more complete understanding of the regulation and function of RNA processing in muscle development. Along the way, we are identifying which proteins can bind to and regulate RNA, working to gain a deeper understanding of muscle development itself and investigating the function of alternatively spliced isoforms during myogenesis.
Project 1: Understanding isoform-specific functions of the RNA binding proteins Bruno1 and Rbfox1.
Project 2: Characterizing the phenotype of U2 spliceosome component Scaf6/CHERP in muscle.
Project 3: Studying the function of m6A modification enzyme Mettl3 in muscle development and function.
